Amador County

Amador County has miles of desolate roads with power lines, western-style towns, and beautiful hills. // Amador County is located in Northern California, nestled among the foothills and western slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is bordered on the west by Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties, along its northern flank by El Dorado County, at its eastern edge by Alpine County, and on the South by Calaveras County. Highway 88 is a designated scenic route and provides Amador's major east/west corridor. Historical Highway 49 runs north/south through the historic towns of Jackson (the county seat), Sutter Creek, Amador City, Drytown and Plymouth.

Our County's population is just over 30,000 residents, and the rural character is refreshing. As a popular tourist destination, Amador features a wealth of lodging and dining accommodations, from familiar names (Best Western, Holiday Inn, Denny's, MacDonalds, etc.) to the unique locally-owned establishments which imbue the county with so much personality and character.

For more information on our accommodations and business-related resources, please see the Amador County Chamber of Commerce website. http://www.amadorcountychamber.com/site/pages/home.cgi
