Albany is nestled along the east shore of San Francisco Bay bordering the cities of Berkeley and El Cerrito. It has a small town feel with the added advantage of being centrally located in a major metropolitan area. Rising east from the bay to the hills of Berkeley, Albany offers sweeping views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge, as well as views of Oakland and Berkeley to the south. This small residential community of 17,000 has many unique features, including a community built in the 1930's. It boasts Craftsman architecture, a downtown mainstreet with shops and services, a 1950's movie theater, and a bakery with a clock tower. Golden Gate Fields, one of America's largest thoroughbred racetracks, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service Western Regional Research Center Laboratory and greenhouses are just a few of the outstanding sites.
