The city of Atascadero is located in the heart of San Luis Obispo County. The city's main road, the El Camino Real, still gives the area a frontier town feel. The stately city hall and beautiful sunken gardens park are at the heart of Atascadero. On the other side of town is the scenic Atascadero Lake Park and Zoo.
