Indio - Coachella Valley

Indio is one of eight communities that comprise the Palm Springs Desert Resorts, an area famous for its clear skies and year-round mild climate, world-class amenities and scenic natural beauty. These communities are located in Riverside County, in an area known as the Coachella Valley, just 120 miles east of Los Angeles off Interstate 10. Indio is home to the largest polo facilities in the country. Both the Eldorado Polo Club and the Empire Polo Club and Equestrian Center are located in this city. In addition, Indio boasts excellent 1960's commercial architecture in its downtown. Other locations include agricultural farms, the Riverside County Fairgrounds, Shalimar Sports Center, the Fantasy Springs Casino, Spotlight 29 Casino, and several residential and shopping areas. Indio is one of six cities in the Palm Springs Desert Resorts area that utilizes the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Photography/Filming Permit Application. This form and film permit fee structure are standard in the cities of Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage.
