Desert Hot Springs is one of eight communities that comprise the Palm Springs Desert Resorts, an area famous for its clear skies and year-round mild climate, world-class amenities and scenic natural beauty. These communities are located in Riverside County in an area known as the Coachella Valley just 120 miles east of Los Angeles on Interstate 10. Desert Hot Springs doubles as 1940's-1960's Las Vegas with good period architecture. Other locations include Cabot's Old Indian Pueblo museum and hot mineral spring resorts including the resort with mud baths featured in "The Player".
