Site Condition: Staircase Beach is a little-used area at the north end of Leo Carrillo State Beach in western Malibu. Surfers are the main visitors to this spot north of North Beach. Access is from the parking area next to the state park manager’s residence at 40000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu. Another way to explore Staircase Beach is to walk on the sand from the North Beach parking lot which is inside the main state park entrance. There are no facilities at this location and the beach is much narrower than both North Beach and South Beach. A trail zig-zags down the bluff face from the parking lot. Ironically there is no staircase. It’s can be quite rocky at this location so head a little ways south if you are looking for more sand to lay out on. Dogs are allowed on the beach if they are on leash.
