Corinthian Grand Ballroom

United States / San Jose, California
Location ID: #10126383

The building that is known today as the Corinthian Grand Ballroom was originally built in 1924 as a Scottish Rite Temple. The builders created an evocative, iconic and richly appointed building that has many levels, many surprising touches and elicits an “ahh” reaction from all who enter its imposing interior. After many years serving the Masonic Order, the building was converted into a movie theater. The large movie screen at one end of the ballroom still rivals many theaters in the area. Wedding parties, corporations, and private event celebrators regularly show films, company videos, wedding slide shows and other media in this ballroom.
The building has also been used as a fine dining location—and the staff we have on site has served thousands of meals over the course of a 20-year career with the facility.
In 1982, the building started its current life as the meeting place and party venue it is today.
In addition to the parties, quinceaneras, weddings, wakes, corporate events and Bat mitzvahs held in these historic halls, The Corinthian Grand Ballroom has also made quite a few appearances on popular TV shows and movies.
One of our biggest “roles” was in the 1997 film “Mad City” starring Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta. In that film, the Corinthian Grand Ballroom can be seen in the role as “City Hall” with massive, sweeping staircases, a soaring 50-foot ceiling and quality touches throughout the building.
