Temple of Kwan Tai Museum / Mendocino Joss House / Mo Dai Miu

United States / Mendocino, California
Location ID: #10128555

One of the oldest continuously used Chinese temples in California. Built in the mid 19th century by Chinese immigrants who worked in the village of Mendocino during the early lumber industry, the indoor shrine pays homage to a taoist deity.

It is now owned by a nonprofit organization which has since restored and now maintains the building as a small museum with the mission of educating visitors on Chinese contributions to California history.
