Description:Knapp's Castle is a re-created landmark hunting lodge, originally built in 1920s, burned down in 1940, rebuilt 2019-24 to match archival photos. Located on the mountain crest above Santa Barbara off San Marcos Pass at 3000' above sea level. Dramatic ruined stone arches and chimneys preserved with intimate outdoor amphitheater and spectacular views of Santa Ynez Valley, Lake Cachuma and Los Padres National Forest.
Site Condition:Knapp's Castle Ruins: From the 101 Freeway in Santa Barbara, take Route 154 north for ten miles. At the top of the mountain, turn right on East Camino Cielo and drive three miles east to Freemount Fuel Break and make a turn right. Vear off to the right and park your car near the road block.
