Description:California State University of Northridge’s Valley Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art building which boasts a 1600-seater performance hall equipped with the latest in acoustical system and impressive design features perfect to host theatre, orchestra, and dance performances. The Valley Performing Arts Center offers a vibrant and diverse performance program to the University community every season, as well as serving as the intellectual and cultural heart of the San Fernando Valley. The Valley Performing Arts Center series at California State University, Northridge is known for its commitment to bringing engaging professional performances of the highest caliber to its exceptional venues. Atrium. Campus Facilities: Theaters, Classrooms, Student Union, Dormitories, Lecture Halls, Cafeteria, Laboratory, Bookstore, Library, Auditorium. Sports Facilities include Swimming Pool, Arena, Racquet Sports, Stadium, Sports Playing Fields, Gymnasium. Grounds: Quad, Courtyard, Fountains & Statues, Parks, Plaza, and Orange Groves / citrus orchards. Auditoriums - Seating range: 104 – 230. The Oviatt Library is the largest library in the San Fernando Valley. With its five-story edifice and grand staircase entrance, it provides a library setting with books and periodicals, study room areas, computer laboratories, artifact displays, and lecture rooms. Standard classrooms at CSUN hold 10 to 85 people. Amenities may include black boards, white boards, standard desks or free-standing tables, tiered seating, overhead projectors, and TV/VCR/DVD. SMART rooms (with data projectors) are available upon request. CSUN features four glassed-in greenhouses, one of which is divided into sub compartments for research purposes, are located behind the Botanical Garden. Matador Gymnasium, nicknamed The Matadome, is the home of all men's and women's basketball and men's and women's volleyball contests. The Matadome is complete with men's and women's locker rooms as well as a training room and equipment storage space. It is adjacent to the Matadors' 25-yard competition swimming and diving pool, a fitness center, and six racquetball courts. The facility also houses classrooms and offices for the university's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Baseball Field: Matador Field is home to Cal State Northridge baseball. The field has Bermuda grass, and a dirt warning track encircles the outfield. Stadium dimension are 325 feet down the left field line, 330 feet down the right field line, 375 feet of the power alleys and 400 fee to straightaway center field. No lights on field. Softball Field: Matador Diamond has a seating capacity of 1,000, a warning track, and a stadium-style sunken dugout. It features a concession stand, three batting cages, an all-dirt infield consisting of decomposed granite, crushed brick, and sand. The outfield is natural grass. Pool: This Olympic pool includes an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool, and a pair of one-meter diving boards with an underwater observation window. The facility also includes a four-lane pool west of the competition pool. Both pools are always heated to a temperature of 80 degrees. CSUN features one of the few remaining historic orange groves in the San Fernando Valley. This area is located next to Nordhoff and Lindley Streets. Pond within the Orange Grove is home to ducks and turtles.
