Site Condition:This is a historic railtown. The Sacramento River runs through the town. The small town resembles an industrial town or valley town. The Main St has a bakery, bank, bar, gas station, general store, grocery store, hardware store, hotel/motel/inn, movie theater, restaurants, courthouse, fire station, park, police station, church, and train station.
General Notes:The Union Pacific railyard–formerly the Southern Pacific railyard—runs alongside one of our main streets, Sacramento Avenue. On the other side of the railyard is the Sacramento River. The Central Pacific Railroad called this spot “Pusher” because this is where they added extra “pusher” locomotives to trains going north over the Siskiyou range.
