Description:A 18-mile stretch of county road that starts from the coastal village of Elk and ends near the town of Philo. Terrain varies but road begins with a steep incline, evens out onto a ridge line, then decends downward toward the Anderson Valley area. On the ridgeline it offers scenic views of apple orchards, vineyards, and some pastures with a seemingly never-ending forest background. The forest that the road runs through is made up of second-growth Douglas Fir, Tan Oak, and Redwood trees. Near the end is the Philo Greenwood Bridge and the enterance to Hendy Woods State Park.
Site Condition:Despite being located in a nearly remote area, the road is in very good condition with very little signs of age or wear. Observed in Summer of 2018.
