Description:The park itself includes the Clunie Memorial Clubhouse, the Shepard Garden & Arts Center, tennis courts, picnic areas, a baseball diamond, running and walking paths, a basketball court and playground. Some regular events at the park include a Saturday morning farmer’s market, free yoga classes and the ‘Pops in the Park’ concert series. Originally developed during the 1920s – 1940s, East Sacramento has managed to maintain its “small town” atmosphere, despite its proximity to Midtown Sac. Stately mansions mingle comfortably with more modest brick homes on streets shaded by generous canopies of sycamore and elm trees. Charming bungalows and quaint cottages are often within walking distance of some of the city’s finest cafes and shops. This rich architectural style, coupled with many small neighborhood business districts, make McKinley Park and East Sacramento some of Sacramento’s most coveted neighborhoods.
