Description:The Painted Turtle---a One-Stop Film Location-- is a camp for children with serious medical conditions founded by Paul Newman. Located in Lake Hughes, CA, 1.5 hours from Los Angeles in the Los Angeles National Forest, the 173-acre property offers the variety of a studio backlot, with the privacy and ease of a single controlled location. From rugged mountain trails, wilderness swamps and paths, to sparkling lakeshores, rustic cabins and even a full-size gymnasium, The Painted Turtle site includes: 16 individual cabins, a large dining hall, a gymnasium with a regulation size basketball court w/ ropes wall & pull out bleachers, swimming pool, archery range, a lake and boathouse with small craft boats & fishing dock, low and high ropes courses, arts and crafts/woodshop buildings, large green space/lawn, barn, pasture, riding ring, campfire circle, industrial kitchen, helicopter pad, staff housing building/motel style, staff village with five manufactured homes, industrial facility buildings w/ large dirt parking lot for parking, equipment trucks, and catering. This private location is both diverse and highly adaptable.
