Description:The Salton Sea is one of the world's largest inland seas. Salton Sea State Recreation Area covers 14 miles of the northeastern shore and has long been a popular site for campers. Increasing salinity means that fish no longer can survive in the waters. Campers, birdwatchers, photographers and hikers continue to enjoy the area's many recreational opportunities. Located between Interstate 10 to the north and Interstate 8 to the south. Highway 111 runs along the lake's eastern side and Highway 86 runs along the lake’s western side.
