Site Condition:Trona Railway Company TRC #779 - TRC operates freight service from Trona to a connection with the UP at Searles, CA (30.5 miles). Traffic includes sulfuric acid, soda ash, salt cake, coal, military equipment and minerals. The company was incorporated March 12, 1913, and opened on September 6, 1914. Passenger service ended in 1937. North American Chemical acquired this line from Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation in 1990. IMC Global acquired North American Chemical in 1998. In 2000, IMC Global sold off this segment of the business to Searles Valley Minerals.
