Description:Le Chene French cuisine opened in September 1980 by chef owner Juan Alonso. Voted Most Romantic - Daily News & LA Magazine Through remodeling and expansions Le Chene has grown in size and customer base. Le Chene is a true destination restaurant located only an hour from downtown Los Angeles. Le Chene is located in a secluded oasis of Santa Clarita, surrounded by centennial oak trees, which is where Le Chene (the oaks) gets its name from. Le Chene is the place to escape from the cities hustle and bustle. The outside of Le Chene has the look of a small castle, made of river rock. Once you open the door the rock motif continues through the entrance then opens to a large bar overlooking the garden, underground wine cellar full of mature wine and an open patio shaded by oak trees. Site Condition:Alonso Family Vineyards | Out of desire to relive his childhood, Juan planted 50 grapevines in 1995 against the advise of people who knew better. Every year thereafter, he kept planting more. Perhaps he started the wine rush in Agua Dulce area! The vineyards are located in the vicinity Le Chene Restaurant and along Sierra Highway next to the Sierra Pelona Motel. We grow grenache, sirah, tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, alvarino and many other varietals. You can enjoy the wines here at Le Chene. The weather in Mint canyon is warm during the day but at night we still have a breeze coming up through the canyon where it creates a difference in temperatures. Today, 6 plus acres right here in Santa Clarita, are doing well.
