Description:The 4 mile stretch of the closed State highway, under DWR, winds down through mountains leading to Pyramid Dam. Templin N to gate @ Frenchman's Flat/Angeles NF Permit. RD closed to public vehicles/open to walk-ins. Minimum assist by Forest Service/FilmLA.
Site Condition:Old Highway 99 (Department of Water Resources) aka Golden State Highway Templin Highway Exit west leads to Golden State Highway/ Old Highway 99 Travel 4 miles north to gate at Frenchman's Flat, an Angeles National Forest Permit. Road is completely closed to public vehicular traffic, but popular for hiking and fishing walk-ins. Obtain key access from DWR with 72-hour (3 business days) notice. Minimum coordination is required by the Forest Service. DWR roadway leads to the backside of the Pyramid Dam Reservoir.
