Description:
SAND ROCK FARM - - LODGING + EVENTS - - Intimate ~ Effortless ~ Delicious! Something old, something new... Sand Rock Farm was the site of the first winery in Santa Cruz County. August and Eva Lilliencrantz purchased the original 1,000-acre parcel from sugar magnate Claus Spreckles in 1887. At the height of operations in 1907, 130,000 gallons of wine was shipped to Europe. Sand Rock Farm remained in the Lilliencrantz family until the 1960s when it was purchased for use as a private home. Rumor has it that members of the Grateful Dead and Santana used to jam in the barn in the sixties and seventies. In the eighties, rooms were individual long-term rentals and there were many rowdy parties onsite. In 1999 Sand Rock Farm was converted into a bed and and beautifully restored with authentic antique furnishings and fixtures. The gorgeous gardens and grounds attracted many couples and Sand Rock Farm soon earned an excellent reputation not just as an inn, but also as one of the premier wedding and elopement destinations in the area. Sand Rock Farm is now a bed and breakfast/wedding venue, owned and managed by the Hagglof family. Derek and Jen Hagglof, a chef and event planner from Tahoe City, enjoy welcoming people to the property to enjoy the unique history and authentic Craftsman style home. The property is available for group buyouts for up to 18 guests and weddings of 2-120 guests. The farmhouse sleeps up to eighteen guests in five rooms (nine beds), all with their own full bathrooms, televisions and Jacuzzi tubs. The spacious common areas and lush grounds allow guests to enjoy time together and apart with plenty of room to roam or retreat!
