The old section of Route 66 /215 Highway is currently closed to traffic.
There are plans in the works to restore and open it again. The Inland Empire Film Commission does not know the time frame on the opening, but assumes it will be at least a few years before the start of this construction project. Filming on the road requires a San Bernardino County Film permit and a San Bernardino County Road Encroachment permit.
