Hendy Woods State Park is located in the heart of the Anderson Valley wine region. About less than three hours north of San Francisco, 3 miles west of Philo, and 1/2 mile off Highway 128 on Philo-Greenwood Road. The park protects 80 acres of two beautiful virgin redwood groves; Little Hendy Grove and the impressive Big Hendy Grove. Along the east side is the Navarro River that runs the length of the park. Hendy Woods is well known for a fallen redwood stump that was home for a man known locally as the Hendy Woods Hermit. This park is warmer and less foggy than most redwood parks along the coast. It offers 92 campsites and 4 cabins with available water, bathrooms, and showers. As of June 2017, the park offers an electric vehicle charging station.
